Do you feel tension in your throat, jaw or tongue when you sing?
A little about me….
Nicholas Andrew
From a young age I was captivated by singing, even though truth be told, I wasn’t naturally gifted, NOT AT ALL.
The passion was there but unfortunately for me the voice I imagined didn’t match what others heard!
Still, I pressed on & began taking voice lessons & after a few years I had made enough vocal progress to start performing in musicals & cabarets in the local areas until eventually after about a decade of tuition I secured my first contract that eventually led me to spend several years abroad as part of performance teams & show bands. I loved it.
But as I worked I always continued my vocal journey. I had lessons with teachers from all different backgrounds & had my eyes opened to a variety of different techniques, vocal trends, quick fixes & the latest gimmicks that the singing world had to offer.
I’ll be honest, some of it worked & some of it didn't. I desperately wanted to find the “method” that I thought would finally help me to feel at home in my own voice because honestly it just felt like something was always missing.
But then in a twist of fate everything changed when I accidentally stumbled across Somatic Education. The mind-body connection in relation to singing turned out to be the missing element that I’d been searching for all along.
This approach not only transformed the way I sing but how felt about my voice too. I’d even go so far as to say that it even changed how I felt about myself as a person.
It still continues to inspire, shape & influence me every day.
